CDC says: here's what killed y'all in 2010

National Vital Statistics Reports

Deaths: Preliminary Data for 2010

There's more to this report than just the list of leading killers. But for those that aren't going to read the report, here's the list:

  • 1  Diseases of heart

  • 2  Malignant neoplasms

  • 3  Chronic lower respiratory diseases

  • 4  Cerebrovascular diseases

  • 5  Accidents (unintentional injuries)

  • 6  Alzheimer’s disease

  • 7  Diabetes mellitus

  • 8  Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis

  • 9  Influenza and pneumonia

  • 10  Intentional self-harm (suicide)

  • 11  Septicemia

  • 12  Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis

  • 13  Essential hypertension and hypertensive renal disease

  • 14  Parkinson’s disease

  • 15 Pneumonitis due to solids and liquids

I believe a few of these are directly influenced by diet/lifestyle. Some are simply reminders of life's Fragility- accidents. Complexity- suicide. Although, now that I thnk about it, those too may very well be influenced by diet/lifestyle.
